The Choir is in its 37th year, having started with just 6 men whose dedication and enthusiasm built the choir up to 36 choristers, practising twice weekly in The Hand Hotel Llangollen, where practices are still held but only once a week with fewer men.
In its heyday the choir travelled to venues both at home and abroad – to Malta, Germany, France, Canada and several times to Holland where we exchanged visits with 2 choirs, making lasting friendships. We have had several trips to the Royal Albert Hall to join with other choirs, to St David’s in Cardiff and to the Manchester Evening News Arena. The choir has also taken part in the TV series Songs of Praise and the Welsh Dechrae Canu Dechrae Canmol. Taking part on the International Eisteddfod field stage is one of our highlights of the year.
Sadly , as with many male voice choirs , numbers are decreasing, and now we do not travel far. However as a small choir we are available to sing in small venues; churches, chapels, wedding venues, local community centres, and join with other choirs at times.
We are fortunate to have the enthusiastic Daniel Bowman as our conductor with the talented Christopher Enston as our accompanist. With their leadership we are hoping for a positive future. What we need now is more men!
